Nature Based Therapy for Teens and young Adults in Greenville, SC
Allison Wolters, LPC, M.Ed, Ed.S
Why this Work Exists
I know firsthand what it feels like to look successful on the outside while feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, and quietly exhausted on the inside.
I have always been a driven, goal-oriented person—working hard in school, striving for the highest grades, stepping into leadership roles, and doing whatever I could to be seen and to make someone proud. That momentum carried me straight into a demanding career, where self-imposed pressure, doubt, and a growing sense of anxiety slowly took hold.
At the time, I didn’t have the language to describe what I was experiencing—only the feeling that something wasn’t right. I turned inward, calling my isolation “rest,” believing that collapsing on the couch at the end of the day was what my body needed. In reality, it sent my nervous system into deeper dysregulation. Food became comfort. Fast food, Dr. Pepper, and binge-watching TV became routine. I was exhausted, disconnected, and stuck in a cycle I didn’t know how to break.
What I didn’t realize then was that my mind, body, and spirit were craving the exact opposite.
The Shift Toward Embodied Living
Over time—through lived experience, wake-up calls, and more than a few moments of clarity—I began to understand that true rest isn’t passive, healing doesn’t happen by numbing out, and wellness isn’t about doing less; it’s about doing what actually restores us.
Now, my nervous system, my body, and my spirit crave intentional connection—to movement, to intentional stillness, and to the natural world. I’ve learned how my brain needs rest, how my body releases stress, and how my spirit recharges through presence, space, and time outdoors. This is an ongoing journey, one that continues to evolve, deepen, and teach me daily.
This personal transformation is what continues to shape my work as a therapist.
How My Practice Evolved
After years in education and counseling, I felt called to create something more intentional—something that honored the body, respected the nervous system, and offered nature based experiences that reignite that childlike awe (that many of us are so far removed from). My practice evolved into a nature-based, somatic approach because it reflects what I know to be true: healing happens when we slow down enough to tune in and notice.
This work is about getting out of your head and back into your body. It’s about reconnecting with what matters, regulating stress at its roots, and rediscovering the spark that gets buried under expectations, productivity, and the constant grind.
Walking Alongside You
I am deeply passionate about walking alongside adults who feel overworked, overstimulated, and disconnected—those who sense there is more to life than the rat race and crash cycle but aren’t sure how to access it yet.
If any part of this story resonates with you, know that you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. Reconnection is possible. Grounded fulfillment is possible. And your spark is still there, waiting to be reignited.
Our Space
Our space is located on the iconic Red Horse Inn property in Landrum, South Carolina. As you drive onto the property, you are immediately greeted by the most inviting reflection pond and a drive that leads you to the Main Inn. Once you arrive and head to the main meeting location, you will be welcomed by a spectacular view of Hogback Mountain and acres of rolling hills. During sessions, clients have the opportunity to walk through private trails, alongside the Middle Tyger River, and beside rolling pastureland. Seeing one of our many animals is a common occurrence during sessions, as we even have many on the property, including a hiking kitty that is known to tag along for a trek through the woods.
